Improvisations-LABOR für Performance-Kunst

Performance-Kunst ist eine vergängliche, situationsbezogene Kunstform, die im Handeln entsteht. Sie formt sich im Zusammenspiel von Körpern, Material, Raum, Zeit und Aufmerksamkeit. Das Improvisations-LABOR versteht Performance nicht als Darstellung, sondern als reale Handlung im Augenblick und stellt den theatralen Modus des „So-tun-als-ob“ infrage.

Ausgangspunkt ist ein individuelles Anliegen oder eine gemeinsame Vereinbarung. Daraus entwickeln sich reduzierte, präzise Handlungen. Bewegung, Konzentration, der Umgang mit Material sowie das Verhältnis zu Raum und Zeit strukturieren das Geschehen. Nicht Ausdruck oder Inszenierung stehen im Vordergrund, sondern Präsenz.

Die Aktionen beginnen häufig solistisch und verdichten sich im Verlauf zu einer Gruppenaktion. Einzelne eröffnen einen Spielraum, in den sich weitere Akteur*innen einschreiben. Es entsteht ein Gefüge, das weniger choreografisch organisiert ist als vielmehr einem Mobile oder einem Schwarm gleicht: dynamisch, reaktionsfähig, ohne feste Ordnung. Interaktion und parallel verlaufende Handlungsstränge existieren nebeneinander.

Das Geschehen entwickelt sich aus Reiz und Reaktion. Entscheidungen entstehen im Moment, ohne Vorplanung. Handeln oder Innehalten folgen einem Gespür für Zeit und für das sich entfaltende Geschehen. Aufmerksamkeit ist die zentrale Voraussetzung der Aktion.

Das Improvisations-LABOR versteht sich als forschender, ergebnisoffener Prozess. Bedeutung entsteht im Vollzug. Das Geschehen erzeugt keine Antworten auf vorformulierte Fragen, sondern bringt Fragen hervor, die erst im Handeln sichtbar werden.

Improvisation LAB for Performance Art

Performance art is a transient, situation-based form that emerges through action. It unfolds in the interplay of bodies, materials, space, time, and attention. The Improvisation LAB approaches performance not as representation but as real-time action, questioning the theatrical mode of “as-if.”

The starting point is an individual intention or a shared agreement. From this arise reduced, precise actions. Movement, focus, handling of materials, and the relation to space and time structure the event. Presence, not expression or staging, is central.

Actions often begin solitarily and gradually evolve into a group event. Individuals open a space that others enter, forming a structure less choreographed than a mobile or a flock: dynamic, responsive, without fixed order. Interaction and parallel sequences coexist.

The process develops through stimulus and response. Decisions arise in the moment, without preplanning. Acting or pausing follows a sense of time and unfolding events. Attention is the central requirement.

The Improvisation LAB is a research-based, open-ended process. Meaning emerges in enactment. The event does not produce answers to predefined questions but generates questions that become visible only through action.
