Fields of Vision ist ein internationales Portrait- und Kommunikationsprojekt. Menschen unterschiedlicher kultureller und gesellschaftlicher Herkunft werden eingeladen, ihre Lebenswirklichkeit sowie ihre Wünsche, Lebensziele und Visionen zu formulieren und visuell darzustellen. Im Zentrum des Projekts steht die Augenpartie der Teilnehmer:innen, die in geöffnetem und geschlossenem Zustand portraitiert wird. Ergänzend entstehen Bilder, Zeichnungen oder Fotografien, die stellvertretend für persönliche Realität und Utopie stehen und teils von den Teilnehmer:innen selbst, teils in gemeinsamen Workshops entwickelt werden.
Aus Portrait, Text und Bild entsteht jeweils ein Triptychon, das in Lentikulartechnik (Wackelbild) umgesetzt wird. Jedes Triptychon besteht aus einer Portraitaufnahme der Augenpartie sowie zwei Beibildern zu Lebenswirklichkeit und Utopie. Je nach Betrachtungsabstand wechseln die Bildebenen: Aus der Distanz sind die Augen geöffnet und zeigen die Realität, in der Nähe schließen sie sich und geben den Blick auf Visionen und Wunschbilder frei.
Bisher haben sich rund 200 Menschen aus Europa, Asien und Afrika an Fields of Vision beteiligt. Inhaltliche Schwerpunkte lagen unter anderem auf der künstlerischen Annäherung an die Mosuo-Kultur in China (2018–2019) sowie der Arbeit mit Geflüchteten in Deutschland (2015–2020). Das Projekt wurde in Deutschland, Thailand, China, Vietnam und Myanmar durchgeführt und ausgestellt.

Fields of Vision is an international portrait and communication project. People from diverse cultural and social backgrounds are invited to articulate and visually express their lived realities as well as their wishes, life goals and visions. At the centre of the project is the participants’ eye region, which is portrayed in both open and closed states. These portraits are complemented by images, drawings or photographs that stand for personal reality and utopia, created either by the participants themselves or developed collaboratively in workshops.
Each work takes the form of a triptych composed of portrait, text and image, realised using lenticular printing technology. Every triptych consists of a portrait photograph of the eye region and two accompanying images representing lived reality and utopia. Depending on the viewer’s distance, the image layers shift: from afar, the eyes appear open, revealing elements associated with reality; as the viewer approaches, the eyes close, giving way to visions and imagined futures.
To date, around 200 people from Europe, Asia and Africa have participated in Fields of Vision. The project has focused, among other themes, on an artistic engagement with the Mosuo culture in China (2018–2019) and on collaborative work with refugees in Germany (2015–2020). Fields of Vision has been realised and exhibited in Germany, Thailand, China, Vietnam and Myanmar.
